Chelsea are still waiting to make their first signing since Court of Arbitration for Sports reduced their two-window ban to one, setting them free to sign players this window.

But plans are already in place for summer arrivals as January is often a difficult window to sign players. Chelsea head coach Frank Lampard has also made it clear that he only wants to sign the 'right' players.

“We want the top calibre of player that can improve us," Lampard said

“I have said it over the last couple of weeks. I am happy with the squad but we have to improve if we can. It is not just my business, in the modern-day since I have been in management and at most clubs, it is a joint effort.

“We have a scouting system, the board and myself. I can put forward a lot and we will work together. I will recommend players that can improve us, fit with the style and the way we want to go and come in really hungry.

“I want people who come here wanting to win and to be a Chelsea player.”

According to latest report by ESPN, Chelsea have made Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell and Ajax midfielder Hakim Ziyech their priority summer transfer targets.

The report also stated that Lampard is keen on a January move for Napoli's Belgium striker Dries Mertens whose contract expires at the end of the season but the winger wants to leave as a free agent in June.

Chelsea are still hoping to secure a striker this month with PSG's Edinson Cavani and Krzysztof Piatek top of the wanted list.
