Carragher: Chelsea would be putting their hat in the ring with Sancho no doubt

Liverpool's legend Jamie Carragher is convinced that Chelsea will go all out to sign Jadon Sancho from Dortmund in the summer.

Despite the impending arrival of new signing Hakim Ziyech on July 1st, Carragher believes it only the beginning of attackers' summer arrival at Chelsea.

“I think it will tell you straight away that Chelsea are desperate for wide players,” he said in a report on Daily Mirror.

“I think with Pedro and Willian and the age they are at, and Willian every transfer window almost seems to get linked somewhere, or certainly Barcelona, so I’d imagine something would happen with him in the summer. I think Pedro is probably looking to go, he hasn’t played too much.

“You would think wide players are the big thing that Chelsea are looking for.

“And they would be putting their hat in the ring with Sancho no doubt, possibly one of the best young players in world football at the moment.

“You see his stats for Borussia Dortmund for goals and assists, being an English player he’ll be desperate to come back, so I think he’ll be the hottest thing, everyone in the Premier League will be looking at to bring in.”

Carragher also hailed Ziyech and wished his former club, Liverpool had signed him.

“Yes, I think the Ajax lad was outstanding last season in the Champions League. He was a player actually I thought Liverpool may look at as well, he can play both sides, maybe as cover for Mane or Salah," he said.

“I think it was obvious from the transfer window in January that Frank Lampard wasn’t happy with what happened but it looks like they are trying to get some business done early.”

With Pedro and Willian all set to leave, Chelsea are likely to add new attacking players in the summer. Sancho is reportedly the main target but there are also talks of resigning former Academy star, Jeremie Boga. Time will tell, but it's surely going to be a busy summer for Chelsea.
