IFK Gothenburg have announced the immediate transfer of 16-year-old Edwin Andersson to Chelsea.

Edwin Andersson joined IFK Gothenburg in 2015 from Lerums IS, but is now leaving to join Chelsea's youth academy.

However, he is leaving with the blessing of the club according to the club's academy director, Jonas Olsson.

“We wish Edwin good luck, of course,” Olsson said.

“We would have liked to have seen him stay with us but that he is being recruited to Chelsea is a good mark on our business”

His father Mikael Andersson described his son and named Cristiano Ronaldo and Hudson-Odoi as players with similar qualities.

“He’s pretty much like Callum Hudson-Odoi at Chelsea. When he was younger, he was a little more like Ronaldo. He mainly stays on the left.”

The youngster also trained with Manchester United last year but decided to join Chelsea.
