Chelsea head coach has moved to calm fans who are clearly getting worried with the way the season is going.

The Blues have failed to consolidate on their early season form, but Lampard is adamant that they are on the right path despite difficulties they have faced this season, and urge the fans and understand and trust the process.

"I think whenever I speak to fans - and obviously this season is a transitional year, and we can’t please everybody - but what I think I am getting from fans is they are recognising the way the team is trying to play, some of the youth in the team and some of the problems," Lampard told the media during press conference today.

"I know there has been a lot of talk about injuries in the past couple of day, I am not sure many teams in the Premier League have had our injuries. We had huge ones at the start of the season, big ones now in the season. N’Golo Kante has played 50 per cent of the games when he has been basically a regular starter for the last four years in the Premier League.

"Ruben as I say hasn’t kicked a ball yet. We’ve got a lot [of injuries] and I think the fans respect that. They see what we are trying to do, but we want to win games. They will be there to support us, this is a huge game. I think it is not a bad timing of a game of this type for us. We need to stand up.

"We need to fight. Tottenham are one point behind us, teams are close behind us and we need the fans with us. The players will give everything tomorrow, I can say that now. I know they will go out with the right intention to give everything. It is going to be difficult to get a result, but they will give everything."

Chelsea would be hoping to bounce back against Tottenham Hotspur after losing their last game to Manchester United.
