Chelsea's Goalkeeper Dilemma: Rumoured GK Targets

Rumours of goalkeepers being linked to Chelsea for the past weeks shows there is evidence of the truth that Chelsea do wish to sign a new goalkeeper. The question here is simple; is Chelsea going for a backup goalie or a total replacement for the unsettled Kepa Arizzabalaga?

One of the goalkeepers linked includes Andre Onana, the Ajax goalkeeper, who was in fine form against Chelsea when both teams met in the group stage of the Champions League earlier this season. Onana has played 24 matches this season with 8 Clean sheets to his name is have been on the front of many rumours in recent weeks.

Another goalkeeper who has been linked to Chelsea is Juan Musso, the 25 years old Udinese goal Keeper who has played 26 matches so far this season and has 9 Clean sheets to his name is also rumour to Chelsea.

Metro reported earlier this week that Chelsea are interested in signing Manchester United bound Dean Henderson in a £50m deal that would see the goalkeeper land at Stamford Bridge.

Dean Henderson, who has proved himself worthy to be on the watchlist of high profile teams, took the Premier League by storm in his debut season in the English top-flight division, recording 10 clean sheets in 27 matches played so far this season, second behind Nick Pope of Burnley who is on 11.

Another question here is if Dean Henderson is the Solution to Chelsea's goalkeeper problem? It is no longer news that a new goalkeeper is one of Frank Lampard major issues as Chelsea manager, a situation which has seen him dropping the first choice goalkeeper (Kepa) for 6 consecutive matches and bringing in the second choice (Caballero). Caballero, who conceded 11 goals in 6 matches despite making some spectacular saves, is certainly not the goalkeeper Frank Lampard is looking for as his long term solution.

Dean Henderson, currently on loan from Manchester United, could come to Chelsea but not as a backup goalkeeper. Kepa on the other hand with his profile would not settle for the Chelsea bench, will Chelsea cash in on £71million world record goalkeeper? This is an interesting dilemma for Frank Lampard and the Chelsea Board given the Board signed Kepa.
