Earlier this month, the Daily Mail reported that Abraham’s contract talks with Chelsea have stalled due to Tammy seeking a deal that matches that of the Blues’ top earners. Fellow publishers the Sun, Metro and Bleacher Report have all followed up on the article with their own take on Abraham’s contract situation, stating Tammy has refused a new deal and is seeking higher wages.

Abraham, who currently earns 50-thousand-pounds a week, is reportedly seeking a deal that will see him earn 180-thousand-pounds a week, pacing Abraham towards the top of Chelsea’s highest earners. However, Tammy Abraham and Chelsea have not engaged in contract talks for some time, according to The Athletic, meaning that the aforementioned articles are some way off the truth.

Abraham, Chelsea’s leading goal scorer this season, is also reportedly keeping an eye on who Chelsea bring in upfront in the summer. Abraham will be keen on ensuring that his first-team position is not under threat. It has been no secret that Chelsea are monitoring potential alternatives upfront, with Moussa Dembele and Timo Werner linked in recent months.

Despite this, Abraham’s comments regarding potential incomings have been positive. Only as recently as February, Abraham spoke glowingly of Edison Cavani, a player who was linked to Chelsea in January, stating that Cavani ‘would have been someone I can learn off and steal his ideas to add to my own.’

Tammy will know that playing for a club like Chelsea will bring added competition and pressure. Judging by Tammy’s comments this season, it seems as though he has the mentality and desire to fight for his spot in Chelsea’s starting lineup, irrespective of who Chelsea bring in and the current stall is just his agent trying to get the best deal for him.
