Swansea City manager Steve Cooper has hailed the impact and impression Chelsea loanee Conor Gallagher has made since joining Swansea in January.

The 20-year-old midfielder has made 9 appearances so far for the Welsh side but Cooper believes he would've had more if luck was on his side.

“I think the numbers paint the real picture of how Conor has done, I think it’s five assists so far,” said Cooper.

“At the end of the day when you play up the pitch and you are brought in to add value and that is around making and scoring goals.

“I have to say, I don’t think he is getting the luck he deserves in terms of goal tally.

“He has been very unlucky, if you look at things like Fulham where there was a last-ditch tackle, or his shots have hit his team-mates.

“Anyone who sees him play can see how hard he works.

“He is adding value. He is not the loudest lad in the world and there is nothing wrong with that.

“He has fitted in really well. I know he loves the club and is really happy here and enjoying his football.”

Gallagher joined Swansea City from Charlton in January to continue his development in the Championship.

Charlton manager Lee Bowyer says they are still feeling the effects of his departure.

“He’s been a massive loss, probably impossible to replace,” he said.

“If you think what he brought us in that first half of the season. He brought us energy, fight, determination and goals.

“To take that out, it’s been difficult to replace with the budget we have to work with. We were lucky to get him.

“A jewel like that, you have to be very very lucky, and we’re not that lucky unfortunately.”
