Legendary Chelsea centre-back John Terry has revealed how he nearly joined Huddersfield Town when he first broke into the first-team squad.

“During my time the only two clubs that approached me were Huddersfield when I first came through,” Terry said during Live Instagram Q&A session.

“Steve Bruce was manager of Huddersfield. Chelsea accepted a bid and Vialli said no. Which obviously I’m very thankful to Luca for, he gave me my debut.”

Terry made his full debut aged 17 and just two days before he turned 21, he captained the first team for the first time - in a defeat by Charlton.

And then went on to win five Premier League titles, four FA Cups, three League Cups, one UEFA Europa League and one UEFA Champions League title, making him the most successful captain in Chelsea's history.
