Chelsea have contacted RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner over a possible move to Stamford Bridge in the summer.

Liverpool have been in the lead for his signature but the Reds are said to be unsure about making a move for the German International.

Werner has a £50m release clause in his existing contract which seems to be putting off the Premier League leaders.

However, according to a report by German publication Bild, the 24-year-old has been contacted by Chelsea with Chelsea manager Frank Lampard looking to add more firepower to his attack.

Willian, Pedro, Batshuayi and Giroud could leave the club this summer and Lampard would love to sign a player like Werner who can play in multiple attacking positions.

But the report also stated that Werner is still waiting for Liverpool to make a move but could accept a move to another Premier League club if he's meant to wait for too long.

Werner has scored 21 goals in 25 appearances for RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga so far this season.
